1. Momella Gate → Miriakamba Hut
  • Elevation: 1,400m/4,590ft to 2,500m/8,200ft
  • Distance: 10 km | Hiking Time: 4–6 hours
  • Activity:
    • After breakfast, drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park.
    • Register with the Tanzania National Park Authority and meet your crew.
    • Begin the trek through the park, accompanied by an armed ranger.
    • Enjoy a walking safari with chances to spot giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and elephants.
    • Pass the Ngarenanyuki River and a scenic waterfall at the base of Mt Meru.
    • Arrive at Miriakamba Hut, where your chef will prepare a hot dinner.
  • Terrain: Lush rainforest with wildlife sightings and gentle trails.

    • After breakfast, begin the steep ascent along the ridge of the saddle.
    • Enjoy stunning views of Meru Crater and the Ash Cone.
    • Arrive at Saddle Hut, where you’ll have lunch and rest.
    • Optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m) for panoramic views.
    • Early dinner and rest in preparation for the midnight summit push.

  • Distance: 5 km (ascent), 15 km (descent) | Hiking Time: 6–8 hours (ascent), 4–6 hours (descent)
  • Activity:
    • Begin the summit push at midnight, trekking through steep and rocky trails.
    • Reach Rhino Point (3,800m) and Cobra Point (4,350m) before the final ascent to Socialist Peak.
    • Celebrate your achievement at the summit and enjoy panoramic views of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding plains.
    • Descend to Saddle Hut for a short rest and lunch.
    • Continue the descent to Momella Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate.
    • Drive back to your lodge in Arusha or to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
