Itinerary in detail

Every Mikumi Holiday Safaris trip is tailored to your personal preferences and interests. Below youโ€™ll find a sample itinerary to inspire your own custom-designed journey.

1. Arusha - Tarangire National Park

Your driver-guide picks you up from your hotel in Arusha in the morning and heads to Tarangire National Park. Covering approximately 2,600 kmยฒ, Tarangire is widely considered one of the best places in East Africa to see elephants. The park’s mix of bush savannah, seasonal swamps, and giant baobab trees creates a landscape unlike any other. Spend the day game driving through the park with chances of spotting lions, leopards, buffaloes, baboons, and over 500 bird species. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

2. Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, descend over 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s largest intact volcanic calderas and home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. The crater’s year-round water supply supports large herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, eland, warthog, and hippo. It is also one of the best places in Tanzania to spot the Big Five, including black rhino. Enjoy a full day of game driving inside the crater before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

3. Lk. Manyara National Park - Arusha

Your final morning takes you to Lake Manyara National Park, a compact but incredibly diverse park stretching along the Great Rift Valley escarpment. The alkaline lake draws large flocks of flamingoes and supports over 400 bird species. Manyara is also famous for its tree-climbing lions, a rare and unusual behavior unique to this region. In the late afternoon, exit the park and return to Arusha for an overnight stay or transfer to the airport for onward travel.
