Overview

Mikumi National Park is Tanzania’s fourth-largest park and the easiest to visit from Dar es Salaam (just 4 hours by road). Known as the “Little Serengeti” for its similar landscapes, Mikumi offers:

  • Big herds of elephants, lions & zebras – without the tourist crowds.
  • Great for short safaris (even weekend trips from Dar).
  • Affordable – lower park fees than northern parks
  • Year-round wildlife viewing – no strict “best season” needed

  • Location: 283km west of Dar es Salaam, bordering Selous Game Reserve
