Overview

This program is the comprehensive East African safari solution. It efficiently links Kenya’s iconic wildlife destinations with Tanzania’s Northern Circuit. The route focuses on maximizing time in key areas: the predator action in the Maasai Mara, the vast plains of the Serengeti, and the diverse ecosystem of the Ngorongoro Crater. Mikumi Holiday Safaris manages all complex inter-country logistics and transfers, ensuring a smooth transition. The final segment of the tour includes classic Kenyan parks, Amboseli and Tsavo, before concluding with two days of leisure on the Indian Ocean coast. This package minimizes travel friction and maximizes game viewing across the region’s best parks.

Itinerary in detail

Every Mikumi Holiday Safaris trip is tailored to your personal preferences and interests. Below you’ll find a sample itinerary to inspire your own custom-designed journey.

1-3. Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

The safari begins with an immediate transfer from Nairobi to the famed Maasai Mara National Reserve. Guests spend three full days immersed in this wildlife-rich ecosystem, globally recognized for its incredible concentration of Big Cats and its pivotal role in the Great Migration. Game drives are strategically planned to maximize viewing of lions, cheetahs, and leopards, and to position guests near the dramatic river crossings during the appropriate season. This segment establishes a high bar for wildlife viewing and includes opportunities to understand the vibrant culture of the local Maasai people.

4. Lake Victoria Transition

This day involves a significant logistical transition, designed to move guests efficiently from Kenya into Tanzania. Following a final morning activity in the Mara, the journey progresses toward the shores of Lake Victoria. This provides a brief, authentic glimpse into local life and fishing culture before the Mikumi team executes the assisted cross-border clearance. This seamless coordination ensures that the travel day is productive and that guests are comfortably positioned for the next phase of the grand tour in the Serengeti.

Amazing experience

Honestly, a 10/10 experience seeing as we booked very last minute, but everything exceeded our expectations, the whole team was super helpful and accommodating, Benson, Hussieni, Nasari and Jefferson. Jefferson was our tour guide for the safari and he really was the highlight of the trip; he made it unforgettable.
